Beginning Celtic Harp
My first instruction was a video and a class similar to this, but focusing on beg. Irish ornamentation. Billy focused a lot on technique and developing exercises and demonstrating how they could be used in song – exactly what I wanted to learn. Wonderful mix of technique, posture and hand position mixed with great melodies that used those techniques. Fantastic! Patient teacher with a good instructional style. The class was small enough that the teacher could provide individual attention. He also placed a lot of emphasis on technique, which was more useful then simply giving us pieces to learn.

The pace is fast in all the classes and a lot of material is covered. I concentrate on technique –can’t play to keep up, but learned a lot. The music everywhere was beautiful. I was over my head but still learned a lot about techniques, song styles that as I progress I hope I can apply. Perfect quantity of material. Excellent approach to teaching. I really liked the third day where he took our requests and showed us embellishment options. (Also good approach for burned out students on Fri.)
